0 is the second most common blood group (39% of the population belong to blood type 0). The metabolism works relatively slowly, so it does not process all food in the same way.

The ideal diet
According to the blood group diet, the best food for you is red meat (you can eat 100-180 g 6-8 times a week).

Prefers meat that comes from grazing animals. Why? Because it is then richer in omega-3s than some types of fish. Don’t forget to get enough vegetables too. Just remember that a plate of kale has as much calcium as a glass of milk. Include these foods in every meal and treat yourself to snacks with nuts and oily seeds.

You shouldn’t overdo it with fruits. You tend to convert carbohydrates into fat reserves. The same goes for grain and cow milk products. If you want to lose weight or maintain your comfortable weight, you should limit the fruit portions.

How can it be that our diet is influenced by blood type?
Thats quite easy. With his research on blood group diets, Peter D’Adamo has proven that certain lectins (proteins contained in food) are more or less well absorbed by the human organism, depending on the type of blood group.

For example, people with blood group 0 digest red meat well, whereas blood group A does not tolerate it well. After years of research on his patients and the evaluation of medical findings, D’Adamo had the brilliant idea of ​​setting up four forms of nutrition that correspond to the four blood groups so that everyone knows which diet suits them best. This is how the blood group diet came about.

Are some blood types higher risk of weight gain than others?
No. But it is true that industrial food is currently very high in wheat and dairy products. Therefore, weight loss can be more difficult for people with blood group 0 than for other blood groups. Apart from this exception, which, as I said, is solely due to our modern diet and convenience foods, the difficulties in losing weight do not depend on blood type.

Now let’s get straight to the point: is this diet suitable for losing weight?
The blood group diet is not a “weight loss diet” in the strict sense of the word. It is rather a way of life and a form of nutrition that should not be temporarily but permanently adhered to. And logically, you automatically reach your ideal weight and feel in better shape when you consume foods that are tailored to the needs of your body.
