Best ways to tell between a fake or genuine Moncler jacket

Moncler is one of the best known and most exclusive manufacturers of fashionable down jackets. In addition to jackets, Monlcer now also offers coats, vests and hats. The exclusivity makes the Moncler brand a popular target for counterfeiters and product pirates. The quality of counterfeiting is getting better every year, making it increasingly difficult to distinguish between original and counterfeit Moncler jackets. For this reason, pay attention to where you buy Moncler products and that the features described here apply.

Moncler online shops

Moncler allows very few retailers to sell Moncler jackets online. You can be certain of web shops that also operate in parallel through a retail store in which Moncler fashion is offered. There are also a few Internet shops that have Moncler in your range.

Important : Websites that have the name “Moncler” in combination with other terms such as “Sale”, “Outlet” or “Germany” in the URL (with the exception of the Moncler homepage) are fundamentally not authentic and are operated by product pirates who counterfeit to sell.

You can also assume that the majority of the Moncler products on eBay with the “new” item status are not original.

Moncler security labels

An authenticity label has been affixed to all Moncler jackets and many other Moncler products since 2008. This label is intended to help customers identify fakes or counterfeits and is one of the best ways to tell between a fake or genuine Moncler jacket. It should be noted that these labels are now also counterfeited, so that you have to check carefully whether it is an original or a counterfeit.

You can check whether your Moncler product is genuine by visiting the Moncler Code Check page . A series of data about your product is requested there and at the end of the process you will receive information about the authenticity of your product. Depending on the year of manufacture, different security labels from Moncler were used, which we present to you here.

Moncler RFID code label (since 2016)

Since the spring / summer 2016 collection, most Moncler products have had security labels with integrated RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) chips, each of which contains a unique ID. This ID is identical to the ID that is printed under the QR code. If you scan the QR code with a smartphone or go directly to https://code.moncler.com, you can authenticate your product there.

Moncler jacket with Certilogo security logo (2008-2012)

Moncler jackets made between 2008 and 2012 have a Certilogo security label. The Certilogo is a 12-digit identification code in red and blue letters, which can be found on an extra sign. This sign also contains a telephone number, an SMS and an Internet address from Certilogo. When you receive the jacket, enter the code on the website www.certilogo.com and you will receive information online whether the jacket is original or fake. If the Certilogo is missing, it is most likely a counterfeit.

Position of the Moncler label / sign

The Moncler brand label is usually sewn in the middle of the shoulder area of the jacket (with the exception of reversible jackets).
On some models, the Moncler logo is also placed near the comics / cartoons.
The word MONCLER and the logo are on the sign, nothing more. If the model name is on the label, it is a counterfeit product.

The Moncler size label always has the same material and color as the Moncler label.
The Moncler care label is always attached to the inside of the jacket on the left (from the wearer’s perspective). Another placement indicates a counterfeit.
Not every Moncler jacket has a Moncler Comics / Cartoons logo on the inside of the jacket, but if there is a cartoon, it is always on the left / bottom of the lining.

Moncler logo patch

The lettering and logo of the patch are clean and precisely embroidered but never printed. The correct position on the jacket is also important. It can happen that in the case of a counterfeit, the patch is attached to the chest area even though it should be on the sleeve (or vice versa).

It’s best to look at the jacket and position of the sticker you are interested in at www.moncler.com and compare it with your jacket.

Moncler cartoon / comic in the lining

If present, the cartoon is attached to the inside of the jacket. The cartoon tells in French and English how to wash the jacket. The colors of the cartoon have to look a little pale. In the case of counterfeits, however, the colors are often very intense — this is one of the best ways to tell between a fake or genuine Moncler jacket.
