Peeling is always recommended for blemished skin. With the right ingredients, you can easily make it yourself.
The human skin renews itself approximately every 28 days. During this process, the upper skin flakes are renewed, while the old ones fall off. However, the skin is unable to reject all skin flakes independently. This causes cornification in the affected areas and the skin appears thick and hard. If the keratinized skin flakes are not removed in time, the new skin under the layer cannot breathe, which clogs the pores and pimples develop. A peeling exfoliant helps the skin to remove old dander and thus reduce the development of pimples.
The most important components for a homemade peeling exfoliant
In order to make a peeling exfoliant for acne, it is crucial to know what is important in the mixture. A peeling usually consists of two components:
• Abrasive particles:
They ensure that dead skin flakes are reliably removed.
• nourishing component:
it helps the skin to regenerate and often has the property of additionally reducing the risk of pimples.
The most important thing: The peeling exfoliant should only consist of components that your skin tolerates. The skin type to which the respective components should be matched also plays a role.
What can be considered as exfoliating particles?
The basic requirement for any exfoliating particle is that it is relatively coarse. However, it should be noted that the size of the particles does not damage the skin. A good guideline is: The larger the pores of the skin and the irregularities, the larger the abrasive particles can be. The following ingredients are therefore used in many homemade exfoliants:
- salt
- bran
- sugar
- Coffee grounds
- Almond kernels
- linseed
- Healing earth
- Flour
- oatmeal
With all these ingredients, there is both a coarse and a finer variant. Salt, for example, offers sea salt or, as an alternative, ordinary household salt. In the case of ingredients such as coffee grounds or linseed, the degree of granulation can be individually influenced with a chopper and thus optimally adapted to your own skin.
