Counterattack summary list

Arlo is one of the strongest bosses in Pokémon GO and is also part of the notorious Rocket team. The Team Rocket bosses Arlo, Sierra and Cliff are now fighting with other pocket monsters. In the following we show you how to beat Arlo Pokémon GO and which counterattacks you should bet on to win the fight. Of course you can still also compete against Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket.

This is how you find Arlo

The first step for how to beat Arlo is to find him! To do this, you need the Rocket Radar. For this you have to collect 6 mysterious components, you get them by victories against the rocket bully.  If you activate the rocket radar, an adapted map shows you the way to the nearest team leader.

Important:  The Rocket Radar is a consumable item and is considered used as soon as you have defeated a boss. In addition, you can only compete against team leaders from Team Rocket between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. By the way, if you lose the fight, you’ll keep the Rocket Radar.

Arlo, in contrast to his boss Giovanni, has not changed too much, as with his colleagues Cliff and Sierra, there is only one new pocket monster to defeat. Crypto-Fukano takes on the role of starter Pokémon in Arlo’s team, replacing the duo of Flunkifer and Tannza.

Arlo competes with these Pokémon

  • Pokémon 1 : Fukano
  • Pokémon 2 : Charizard, Turtok, or Steelless
  • Pokémon 3 : Scherox, Dragoran or Brutalanda

How to beat Arlo: the best counter-attacks explained

  • Fukano : Fukano’s weaknesses against soil, rock and water play into the cards of skilled trainers: Strong counterattacks such as Regirock (target shot, stone edge ), Geowaz (clay shot, rock throw) and Sumpex (clay shot, aqua dome) also have against other Pokémon on the Rocket Board nor their use.
  • Charizard : The Pokémon icon is doubly vulnerable to rock attacks, but water and electric attacks can also take the wind out of the fire dragon’s wings. The stony path leads via Regirock with a target shot and stone edge or Charizard’s Gen 1 colleague Geowaz with a stone and rock throw to the goal. If you want to shock the reptile, however, Zapdos with thunder shock and antique power is the best choice.
  • Turtok : The turtle is Arlo’s ace up your sleeve and the most difficult opponent you can face. Strong Plant-type Pokémon are a must to win. Electric types do a lot of damage against Turtok, but they are usually not tough enough to survive the fight. Bet on pocket monsters like Viridium or Folipurba (both with a quick blow and a leaf blade). Passable counterattacks are also Turtok’s Gen 1 colleague Bisaflor with a vine slash and Flora statue as well as – due to its damage resistance – Trikephalo with fire breath and dark aura.
  • Steelless : It doesn’t get any easier because Steelless has a wide range of attacks and resistance bonuses. The motto “fire free” will get you the furthest: Heatran or Entei – both with a vortex of fire and flame throwing – can melt the steel snake down. If you prefer to rely on ground or water attacks, Stalobor (clay clamp, hammer drill) and Sumpex (clay shot, aqua hood) also have a good chance.
  • Scherox : Fire should also be the weapon of choice here, Scherox, on the other hand, is doubly vulnerable. A tartan equipped with a counterattack and fire sweep is perfect, alternatively, Charizard with a fire vortex and fire cannonade or Entei with fire vortex and flames work almost as well.
  • Dragoran : Ice attacks should be thrown against the Dragon Pokémon. A good choice are legendary pocket monsters like Regice (target shot, Blizzard), Dialga (Firebreathing Draco Meteor), or Mewtwo (Psycho Sword, Ice Beam). Other approaches work using zapdos (thunderbolt, thunderbolt) or metagross (cartridge blow , star blow ).
  • Brutalanda : With Brutalanda, Arlo has another dragon option that is difficult to deal with. It’s best to plan in the event that even your counter-Pokémon cannot defeat Brutalanda completely and you have to perform the coup de grace with another pocket monster. Despotar with catapult and grinder, the mutated form of Giratina with breath of fire and dragon claw as well as  Togekiss with charm and magic certificate have good chances. Regice, in the same configuration as against Dragoran, is also a very solid choice.
