How to make an exfoliating hair scrub: 5 recipes

exfoliating hair scrub

Hair scrubs and scrub shampoos are easy to make yourself. We show you how to make an exfoliating hair scrub with five simple recipes that give your hair great movement and shine.

Hair scrubs are one of our current hair care beauty trends , as they have a great effect on our hair. The reason for this is the peeling effect. The microparticles in the shampoos clean the skin and hair surface and remove residues of care products, silicones and dandruff. The result is a deep cleansing that lets our hair breathe again. The hair can then take care products better again, shine and have a great movement.

How to use the hair scrubs

You do not have to buy exfoliating shampoos and hair scrubs for a lot of money in the drugstore. You can easily do it yourself. We have collected five recipes to make an exfoliating hair scrub that you can easily create at home. The application is almost always the same: you mix the ingredients and distribute the finished shampoo or scrub on your scalp and the rest of your hair. Gently massage in the mixture, leave to work for three to four minutes and rinse with lukewarm water. Of particular note is that you use silicone-free shampoo such as baby shampoo for the recipes. This is especially gentle and healthy for your hair.

Recipes for an exfoliating hair scrub

The classic: exfoliating shampoo with sugar

  • Brown or white sugar
  • Aloe vera gel
  • Optional: 2.5 teaspoon almond oil

The aloe vera gel is used as a foundation like a shampoo. Take as much of the gel as you would from the shampoo. Add sugar to make it a granular shampoo. After the shampoo has worked and the sugar has dissolved, wash it out with lukewarm water.

Exfoliating shampoo with salt

  • 2 tablespoons of sea salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 drops of essential oil (peppermint, chamomile, rose)

This scrub is especially easy because you have all the ingredients in the kitchen. If you like, you can add a few drops of essential oil to the salt-oil mixture for a pleasant smell. Also with this recipe you mix all ingredients and give the mixture on the hair.

Exfoliating shampoo with soda

  • Silicone-free baby shampoo
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Subsequently, a rinse with apple cider vinegar is recommended, so that the hair gets particularly beautiful shine.

Hair peeling with sunflower seeds

  • 1 handful of sunflower seeds
  • water

The sunflower seeds are ground in a mortar or blender and mixed with a little water to a paste that you apply to your hair. Since the removal of the sunflower seeds is a little more elaborate, this shampoo is more suitable for women with short hair.

Hair peeling with lava earth

  • 3 tbsp lava soil
  • 6 tablespoons boiling water

Boil some water and put 6 tbsp in a small bowl. Then add the 3 tablespoons of lava soil and mix to a creamy mixture. The consistency should not be too mushy, but a little more fluid, so you can spread them well in the hair. The lava earth peeling should not be applied too long, as the earth will be harder to remove once it dries.
