Your attitude determines the impression of the interlocutor about your charisma and your self-respect. You can certainly imagine for yourself what kind of attitude radiates interest and dynamism. The advantage of this is that you can change the way others feel about you by adjusting your posture.
A smile creates a relaxed atmosphere for the person you are talking to in any culture. An important part of facial expression are the eyes, which say a lot about the general feeling of the other person. Eye contact is rated more positively and usually means friendliness, affection and attention. However, those who avoid eye contact convey indifference or shame.
Hands are also a popular means of communication to support what is being said. Emotions are often also expressed through the hands. For example, when we are nervous, we often convey it through the constant occupation of our hands. With a little concentration, the hand movements can be suppressed well.
5 tips for successful body language
As the first physical contact from an encounter, at least before the coronavirus, the handshake says more than a thousand words. It is best to grip the whole hand firmly and not move it too much up or down.
2. Sitting properly
As always, it is important to keep your back as straight as possible, which gives you the opportunity to lean towards the person you are speaking to or to lean back to authentically support your statements.
3. The right distance
It is best to be at a distance of at least 60 cm from the person you are speaking to so as not to penetrate the intimate distance zone. Due to the quarantine, a longer distance is currently recommended.
Who does not know it? You alternately shift your weight from your left to your right foot. However, this has less to do with stability and often has a negative influence on the imparted self-confidence. Pick a specific point in the room and anchor yourself there. Body language expresses significantly more than what is said – the body is a very bad liar.
