5 tips for successful body language

1. Handshake

As the first physical contact from an encounter, at least before the coronavirus, the handshake says more than a thousand words. It is best to grip the whole hand firmly and not move it too much up or down.

2. Sitting properly

As always, it is important to keep your back as straight as possible, which gives you the opportunity to lean towards the person you are speaking to or to lean back to authentically support your statements.

3. The right distance

It is best to be at a distance of at least 60 cm from the person you are speaking to so as not to penetrate the intimate distance zone. Due to the quarantine, a longer distance is currently recommended.

4. Stability

Who does not know it? You alternately shift your weight from your left to your right foot. However, this has less to do with stability and often has a negative influence on the imparted self-confidence. Pick a specific point in the room and anchor yourself there. Use your shoulders to face a listener who is on your left or right.

5. Business cards

Business cards are often exchanged in the middle or towards the end of a business visit. There are also many things to consider. Accept the discussant’s card like a present and say thank you. Hold the business card in your hands a little longer before it disappears into the portfolio.
