1. Can you really train cats?
Well, cats have their own head, but you can teach them a lot. Above all, cats should be educating if they do something that humans do not want. If you are intensively involved in the education of your cat from the very beginning, then you can live wonderfully with it without fear that there is a pile of excrement somewhere or that the dear animal attacks you at once. We’ve put together 4 important rules to help you raise your cat properly.
1.1. Set prohibitions!
As with other animals, you have to make sure that your cat doesn’t dance around on your nose. Therefore, think from the beginning what your cat is allowed and what is not. If your cat does something you are not allowed to do, then, as with a dog, you should say no loudly and clearly and remove you from the place where it has just done something wrong. But always stay consistent and don’t leave your cat on the couch today, if you only banned it yesterday. Your cat soon doesn’t know what’s right and what’s wrong.
1.2. Never physically punish your cat!
If your cat has done something wrong, you should never physically punish her by giving her a pat on the butt or spraying it with water. You must also always make sure that you punish your cat immediately after the crime and not half an hour later. Then she doesn’t know what she’s being punished for. But reward your cat regularly if it has done something right.Therefore, you always have small treats at your disposal. The key to educating cats lies in the positive encouragement. Reward the desired behavior, then your cat will remember it and will always do it right in the future, because she knows that she will get a reward for it.
1.3. Play with your cat!
So that you can build a true friendship with your cat, you should play with it. You will not only make your cat a pleasure, because you will certainly enjoy playing with your cat. In addition, you should always pet your cat. This is how you can make her feel safe and secure with you. But not only for the cat the petting is very pleasant. Purring from a cat is good for your health. It is even proven that purring lowers blood pressure.
1.4. The Cat Toilet
It can happen again and again that your cat does not do her business in the cat toilet and not by mistake. If you observe something like this, then you should get to the bottom of the cause, because then something is not as it always was. The cat then does not fit anything. Have you changed anything in your apartment? Have new animals been added? Is the toilet in a place that is unsuitable for a cat, for example in a transit room? Have you changed the litter? Do you use another cat litter? All of this can be the reason why your cat avoids her toilet. She just doesn’t feel comfortable anymore because of change.
To prevent your cat from doing business in the apartment, you should use special pheromone sprays. Such a spray causes cats to feel safe and secure again. If there is no change in behaviour, you should consult a veterinarian, because often there may also be a disease behind it.
