Cool and dry – that’s what spices like best

Spices should be protected from light and stored in a cool place. For example, a specially designed spice cabinet is perfect. But if you do not have enough space for it, you can easily store the spices in the general storage cupboard. However, there are a few things to watch out for if you want to store herbs properly.

Never store spices near the cooker. If you cook something and the humid steam drips into the spice cupboard, it could spoil the herbs. So choose a kitchen cabinet that’s far enough away.
Purchased spices should never stay in their plastic packaging. Plastic simply does not provide sufficient aroma protection for the spice.

As an alternative, you can, for example, wash out an old jam jar and then store the spices in it. Many people also like the very popular snap-on lenses. Since these are often sold with a rubber ring for better sealing, can store here super aromatic spices. You can also label the snap-on glasses with blackboard labels and then write which spice is inside.

It should never get too hot for spices, as they will lose precious flavors. In addition to the above places where spices can be stored, it is also possible that you freeze the herbs.

Simply pack the fresh spices into an ice cube container and pour water or oil over it. So you can quickly throw the dice in a soup or in a pan and have the herbs at hand.
