Essential oil solid perfume: Materials and ingredients

You need the following ingredients for about two tins of the solid perfume:

  • 25 ml fragrant, skin-care vegetable oil (best jojoba oil or almond oil)
  • 4 g beeswax or vegetable wax as a beeswax alternative
  • 2-3 ml of a fragrance mixture of essential oils, corresponds to approximately 50-75 drops
  • a small glass bowl for mixing
  • 2 tightly closing small bowls or jars, e.g. pill containers or empty pots from used lip balm with about 20 ml capacity

You can easily make your favourite fragrance blend for this perfume from essential oils. Use one of our recipes for fragrance blends or create your own fragrance of essential oils.

Note: When buying essential oils, pay attention to natural quality, because synthetic fragrances can endanger health. But high-quality oils should also be used wisely, as they are concentrated fragrances and active ingredients that can cause skin irritation, asthma and other symptoms.

How to transform the fragrant oil into a solid perfume

  • Heat beeswax and vegetable oil in a small glass jar in the water bath just until the wax has melted.
  • Meanwhile, mix well with a thin stir-fry stick or chopstick.
  • Remove the glass vessel from the water bath.
  • Add essential oil and stir thoroughly again.
  • Drip one or two drops of the mixture onto a plate, let it cool and test the consistency.
  • If the perfume is too soft, add a little wax and melt in the water bath.
  • Is it very firm, add a little oil and mix well.
  • Fill the ready containers and let it cool completely. Now your solid perfume is ready for use.

Application of the solid perfume

You can apply the solid perfume to your liking. For example, scent the neck, décolleté, wrists and other areas of the skin. Once the fragrance has disappeared, you can refresh it as many times as you like.

At very warm temperatures, the solid perfume can become soft or even liquid. Therefore, avoid placing the perfume in the sun or on the heater. As the warm season approaches, it may be recommended for more firmness to add a little more wax in the production of the perfume. A vegetable wax with a higher melting point, such as sunflower wax, is also suitable for a summer perfume.

Tip: With certain essential oils you can also give your perfume a positive effect similar to aromatherapy. A scent with peppermint can relieve headaches, coniferous and eucalyptus oil work against cold symptoms, lavender has a soothing and sleep-promoting effect.
