1. Don’t buy an Advent wreath

In addition to a swing bow, fairy lights and other Christmas decoration elements, an Advent wreath belongs in every apartment. Usually you buy it for expensive money at the market or in the flower shop. However, these Advent wreaths often do not last until Christmas. You lose the needles very quickly and a short time later you can throw them away. But you also throw a lot of money out of the window. On the other hand, if you make an Advent wreath yourself, it costs you many times less and you are not too annoyed if you have to dispose of the Advent wreath early.

Tip: Of course, homemade straw stars, figures or small Christmas baubles also look very beautiful.

2. Make decorative elements yourself

The only thing you have to buy for an Advent wreath is the fir branches. You can do the rest yourself. These include pine cones and branches of berry shrubs, which you can easily collect in the forest. Also very nice are dried lemon slices and orange slices, which also exude a wonderful fragrance. You should also pick up nuts, as well as gift loops. There are really no limits to your imagination here. Now that you have collected everything, you can start.

Step 1: Buy and make a blank

As a basis for your Advent wreath, you need a ring. You can do it yourself or buy it yourself. You have the choice between blanks made of styrofoam, straw and plug-in material. If you want to make the ring yourself, then you only need some newsprint and wire.Turn the newsprint together into a solid cord and connect the end pieces with wire. If the wreath is the size you want, all you need to do is wrap the entire paper wreath tightly with the wire to make it more stable. Since it does not look very nice when the white Styrofoam blank or the newspaper can be seen under the fir branches, you should coat the wreath with green crepe ribbon.

Step 2: Connect branches to the wreath

Make sure that the Advent wreath is nicely tightly bound and the ring does not shine through.

Depending on how big your blank is, you now need to cut the fir branches to the desired length. Now you need to connect the wire firmly to the wreath using a knot. Then place the first branches on the wreath and wrap them from the inside out with some wire. Now rotate the wreath clockwise and place the next branches on the wreath so that the wire is obscured by the previous layer of greenery. Repeat this process until the entire wreath is covered with greenery. Make sure that the last layer of greenery is below the first layer.

Step 3: Attach candles

Now you can attach the candles to the wreath. Of course, you can do this with wire. For a better grip, however, we recommend that you use candle plates. You must attach these to the wreath with the help of hot glue. Then place the candles so firmly in the plates that they can no longer be moved.Make sure that the candles are perenniqued on the wreath. Otherwise, the candle wax can run down later, creating very unsightly wax spots on the tablecloth.

Step 4: Decorate the wreath

Now you can let your creativity run wild. Design the Advent wreath as you find it beautiful. You can connect the individual elements to the wreath by sticking them on or fastening them with wire.

In this way, the most diverse Advent wreaths can really be created. Of course, you can also make such a wreath from other elements. Instead of fir green, you can also coat the wreath with pine cones or fabric. And if the cutlery doesn’t look nice at some point, just throw away the branches. You can reuse the rest next year.
