Lavender (botanic name lavendula) not only looks and smells great, but also has healing powers and many useful abilities. It is one of the most important plant extracts in the field of aromatherapy. Since it is rich in essential oils, it can also be used wonderfully for home-made natural cosmetics due to its manifold effects. Our guide outlines how you can easily make a DIY lavender cream recipe yourself as part of natural cosmetics!

Use the power of nature and make your cream from lavender yourself! For this I always use homemade lavender oil. How I make the oil and cream, I’ll show you below!

Make a DIY lavender cream recipe: what you need

For the lavender oil:

  • 100 ml vegetable oil (e.g. almond, olive, coconut, jojoba or sesame oil)
  • 10g dried or 20g fresh lavender flowers
  • 1 screwed glass

For the cream:

  • 100 ml lavender oil
  • 10 g beeswax
  • 5 drops of essential lavender oil
  • 1-2 small screw glasses / cream containers

How to do it

The lavender oil:

  1. First, put the vegetable oil and lavender flowers in a glass. Make sure that the flowers are completely covered.
  2. Close the glass and store it at room temperature in a sunny place.
  3. The glass should be shaken daily to avoid mould and produce a good result.

Alternatively, you can put the plant-oil mixture in a saucepan and let it pull for 15 minutes at 70°C. Then place in a sieve and collect the oil in a glass.

The lavender cream:

  1. Put the lavender oil and beeswax together in a glass or bowl and heat it in a water bath until the wax has melted. Stir again and again.
  2. Add the essential oil and mix well.
  3. Then put a few drops of it on a cold plate. How to test the consistency: If the cream is too liquid, a little more wax will help. If the cream is too firm, add a little more lavender oil.
  4. Now you can fill the lavender cream into the designated jars or containers and let them cool.

What is the lavender cream suitable for?

  • Itching, inflammation, skin irritation:
Since lavender has an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect, it can help with itching, inflammation and irritation of the skin and stimulate healing.
  • Skin:
Lavender cream is a good companion for skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis or abscesses.
  • Sensitive and dry skin:
Due to the contained linalool, the lavender cream is well suited for sensitive and dry skin.
  • Impure skin:
The cream can also help with skin impurities.
  • All skin types:
The cream can be used for care not only for impure skin, but also for all other skin types.
  • Insect:
The antiseptic ingredients of the lavender help to relieve pain and promote wound healing.
  • Cold:
If you have a cold, the cream can be applied to the chest and neck area. Not only does it improve well-being, but it also has an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect.
  • Lip balm:
Sometimes I also use the cream as a lip balm for brittle lips.
  • For general relaxation:
Due to its intense aroma, lavender has positive effects not only on the body, but also on the soul. The soothing fragrance provides relaxation and relieves stress. Lavender can be used not only as a cream on the skin, but also as a relaxation bath. Isn’t that the right thing to do after a busy day?
  • Headache:
Just cream some lavender cream on your forehead or temples.
  • Problems falling asleep:
Can you fall asleep badly? Then apply the cream at night before going to bed or put a scented bag with dried lavender flowers under your pillow. Good sleep!
