But also to protect their beds and to protect against foul-smelling urine, as it is often left by uncastrated cats for marking their territory, are reasons to expel cats in the garden. Means against cats there are many, as   one or the other cats distribute test shows. A cat dispel spray or unpleasant odors are just a few means. You don’t even have to resort to the unloved dogs or chemistry, but can first test the range of home remedies. But what helps against cats, of course, and how good is which remedy? We will show you the most effective means.

Ways to keep cats out of your garden

Tip 1: Sprinkle coffee grounds or pepper

If you don’t have your own cat and want to drive away neighbor’s cat, the following methods are appropriate. Cats do not like certain odors. These include pepper and coffee. On a dry day, you can scatter both around your beds and the terrace and hope that the cats will be able to drive away in the garden. Before a cat leaves its faeces or urine, the earth is usually sniffed extensively,so that it may be deterred by the disturbing smells. By the way, coffee grounds are an excellent fertilizer for your plants, so that you can not only drive cats out of the garden, but also do something good for your plants. After a downpour, however, you need to sprinkle coffee or pepper again.TipHowever, depending on the type of cat, you may need to try different methods before you are successful. Because every cat is different and does not always react to every method to drive cat off the property.

Tip 2: Spray water

Cats hate water and quickly seek the vastness if you spray them wet with a water spray gun or with the garden hose. Therefore, water, as simple as it may seem, is a real and proven cat selling home remedies. However, you should make sure that the water jet is not set too hardso that you do not injure the cat. It is important that you have some patience, because most cats can only be expelled permanently if you use this method several times. But some cats are also smart to come into your garden only when you’re not nearby.

Tip 3: Evict cats with repelling plants

There is in the trade the scaredy-cat plant (Coleus canina). This plant is supposed to drive cats away with its smell, which is produced by the essential oils contained. However, this does not work for every cat. The plant is simply planted in several places in the garden or placed in flower pots around the terrace.

Tip 4: Cat scare home remedies – various devices on sale

In order to be able to drive the cat away permanently, you can also rely on the so-called cat scare devices instead of cat scare. These electrical or solar-powered devices emit an alarm sound in the ultrasonic rangeas soon as there is a cat nearby that triggers the motion detector. Cats react to this sound and move   away, as an ultrasound test shows. The disadvantage of these products is the high price and that the alarm is triggered not only in cats, but also in other small animals. On a similar basis, a cat scare device works, which instead of an alarm tone emits a fragrance that is unpleasant for cats over several weeks.

Tip 5: Cover beds

If you don’t want neighbor’s cat or a stranger to leave feces and urine in your beds, you can also cover them. For example, bark mulch or fir branches are suitable for this purpose. Since cats want to dig in the ground, take this opportunity away from them.

Tip 6: Garlic, onion or cinnamon

Since many cats do not like the smell of garlic, a special granules are also suitable, which you will find in the construction or garden specialist market. The granules smell intensely of garlic, is generously scattered over all beds and is supposed to disturb sensitive cat noses and keep them away from your garden. It is cheaper if you simply chop and distribute garlic and onions. If you want to prevent cats from marking inside the house, fragrances that smell pleasant for you but are not liked by cats, such as cinnamon, are suitable. For example, if your own cat likes to put in your flower pots, cinnamon sticks that are simply put into the potting soil help.

Tip 7: Spray with mint oil and vinegar

If you want to keep cats away from the terrace and front door, for example, smells such as vinegar and mint oil are also suitable. Put some mint oil or vinegar in a spray bottle and spray with this cat spray all areas where cats like to mark their territory, for example on the front door, basement entrance, patio door or house walls. So you can effectively drive away neighbor’s cat or of course also drive away a foreign cat as soon as possible.

Conclusion

A strange cat sells its own cat or is it in your garden in general? No problem, because now you know some means against cats if you want to drive a cat off the property. Since not every cat reacts the same  way, you have to do your own cat test to find out what is most effective and best combine some means (e.g. tea tree oil or sulfur) to be able to drive the cat away permanently.

Also always remember that it is not always neighborcat’s fault if you find feces in your beds, because squirrels, martens, raccoons or hedgehogs are also often on the move in your garden.
