The following contribution will show you how meat has a financial impact on food planning and that there are inexpensive alternatives.
But not only because of the money… we should eat less meat for ethical reasons. If you look at the scandals of recent years, you can quickly lose faith in the meat industry.
In addition, there is the problem of factory farming. Purely for profit, farm animals are kept in a confined space and their basic need for exercise is completely ignored. Those who regularly follow the media reports on this topic do without meat for purely ethical reasons – at least for a certain period of time.

How much meat is healthy?
Firstly, eating meat every day is not varied, secondly it is expensive and thirdly it is not necessary for health reasons. On the contrary, pork in particular has increasingly lost its good reputation in recent years. Excessive consumption of pork is said to contribute to acidification of the body and thus to trigger diseases such as gout and rheumatism. The treatment of animals in factory farming with antibiotics and hormones does not really contribute to the quality of the meat. Of course, meat lovers do not have to do without entirely. If meat is only served twice a week, high-quality organic products can also be bought without tearing a hole in the household budget.
Alternatives to help you eat less meat
Avoiding meat entirely or consuming it in combination with other foods saves money. When I talk about combining, I mean keeping the meat content low. This works wonderfully, for example, when you cook pasta with Bolognese. You need significantly less minced meat for the sauce than for a pan full of boulettes. The same applies to a vegetable pan, which mainly contains carrots, beans, mushrooms etc. and only a few strips of turkey or chicken fillet. But even without meat, delicious dishes can be conjured up, here are some alternatives.
Eggs have long been considered unhealthy, at least if you eat too many of them. Experts are now of the opinion that eggs have no effect on cholesterol levels, etc. Simple dishes such as fried potatoes with fried egg, sweet and sour eggs or an omelet fill you up and are quickly prepared.

Mushrooms such as mushrooms, oyster mushrooms and especially chanterelles have a high protein content, fill you up and are also extremely delicious. Plan a mushroom pan again in your diet. If the season offers, mushrooms should be bought fresh and are not that expensive. In the cold season, frozen or canned goods can also be used.

For a long time, soups were only considered a starter when it wasn’t exactly a hearty stew. If you like home-cooked food, take at least one soup day a week. Whether vegetable soup or lentil stew, the dishes can be varied according to personal taste and, depending on the amount, usually cost less than 10 euros. It is best to cook a large saucepan and freeze the rest , so that another lunch is already secured.

I can already hear the reviews, fish is not cheap, but rather expensive at the moment. Unfortunately, that is true, but there is no reason to dispense with it entirely. If you have the opportunity, go to the weekly market, but only shortly before it closes. Many fishmongers no longer want to take their goods home and then offer them at a lower price. There is also cheap fish in the supermarket and at the discounter, but then it is frozen. Varieties such as pangasius fillet or saithe are definitely cheaper than salmon or anglerfish.
