3. DIY ideas to decorate a table
It doesn’t always have to be large, elaborate decorations that decorate the table. A small flower decoration or a nice candle already provide for that certain something and are quick and cheap to get.
Here are some suggestions for what you can design yourself.
3.1. Windlights and other candle decorations
Candles can be placed in pretty much any decoration and value the overall picture immensely. Thanks to the most diverse types and shapes of candles, they are flexible decorative items that can serve as a light source in addition to their diverse appearance.
Obtain small windlight glasses, which you can lace with colorful ribbons, glue with transparent paper or fill half with shells or stones. Hollow out southern fruits, pumpkins or apples and put a tea light in it.
Fill mussels or walnuts with wax and put a wick in for homemade candles.
Place candles of different heights next to each other in a shallow bowl and fill the shell with themed decorations, such as nuts, branches, and moss.
Use floating candles! Fill mason jars with colored water and place the candle on top. Alternatively, you can use larger glass bowls: place sand and shells on the bottom of the bowl, fill with water and let several candles float on top.
3.2. Flower bowls and grass glasses
Flowers fit into almost any decoration idea. They bring a piece of nature to the table, are colorful and beautiful to look at and exude a pleasant smell.
Good to know: With large table decorations with many candles, be sure that the candles have room for manoeuvre upwards and can’t burn anything with their flame. The candle foot should also be safely packed, so that when the candle is burned down, the wax is collected and does not run over the table. A pretty vase with an artfully decorated bouquet is the most classic table decoration available. However, there are simple instructions to enhance the flower decoration visually:
Fill a bowl with water, cut off the stem just below the flower and place a sea of flowers on the surface of the water. Use a transparent shell, you can decorate the floor with pebbles, shells or pearls.
Instead of normal vases, use differently coloured glass bottles, in which only a single flower is inserted at a time. Clean old tin cans, spray them in a color of your choice, wrap the center with colorful yarn and use it as a vase or as a flower pot.

Succulents are particularly easy to care for, compact and beautiful to look at, which is typical for table decoration.
Work with succulents. The resistant plants can be arranged in stone mini-gardens on the table, where other flowers would have long hung their heads.
For some decorations, it is a good place to avoid flowers altogether and use only grasses, ferns and branches. This gives a rustic touch.
3.3. Napkin rings in a different way
To offer napkins pretty, you can fold them in an artful way or you can tie them together. As an alternative to napkin rings, you can use different ferns and grasses. Even flexible branches are suitable.
If you want to avoid the crumbing of natural products, use ribbons of different widths or weave a ribbon of colorful yarn yourself.
3.4. Creative rethinking with everyday objects
The simplest instructions for stylish decorations often include items that you have in the house anyway.

Natural everyday objects often give off a particularly stylish table decoration.
Open a book, take one side from the left and right, roll the pages inwards, and stick them together in the middle. The pages form a heart and the book can be placed on the table. Optionally use adhesive tape for fixation.
You can make egg holders from rolls of kitchen towel or toilet paper. Paint the cardboard or glue it with colorful foils.
Round wool balls are great decorations. Loosen the end thread and let it wander a bit across the table in a loose track.
Rethinking is worthwhile. A pretty table decoration can be made from almost every everyday item. Keep your eyes open the next time you stroll through your apartment or garden.
