How to make meat fondue with oil

Make meat fondue with oil

If the word fondue is heard, most people think of a lot of cheese. However meat can also be prepared in the fondue pot — and such fondue is a renowned feature of France’s elegant Chamonix resorts. But be careful: beginners have to pay attention to a few crucial things here! This is how to make meat fondue with oil.

Select the meat variety, immerse yourself in the oil and just sit back – so and no other way, a convivial fondue evening with meat takes place. All you need is time and a fondue set. And that’s exactly what many love: sitting with family or friends for a long time, enjoying time and eating well. No one has to stand in the kitchen and cook for a long time, instead everyone sits comfortably together and enjoys the time – and of course also the delicious food.

Cooking fondue meat in a pot sounds pretty simple. But if you don’t have a little basic knowledge, the fondue evening can quickly become a flop. One lacks a fondue fork, the other constantly drops the meat and the fat also splashes. A terrible idea, right? It’s really good to know how to prepare and prepare a meat fondue with oil properly so that none of this happens.

Make meat fondue with oil: preparation

First of all, of course, you need a fondue set. You can choose between devices that are powered by spirit, gas or electrically. Of course, the most comfortable are electric fondues, because they are easy to use and do not spread any unpleasant smell. They are also not even so expensive.

Otherwise, of course, you still need fondue forks. It is best to always give each guest two so that there are not too long waiting times. Furthermore, you still have to have normal cutlery and plates.

Choose the right meat:

Poultry, lamb, veal, beef, pork and even fish are equally suitable as fondue meats. The only important thing is that you cut the meat into small pieces so that it cooks well in the oil.It is also important that the meat has room temperature and is well drained. The fondue sauces should only be given to the meat and the fondue side dishes after the oil bath.

With the meat fondue amount per person, it is best to allow 200 to 250 grams of meat.

Select the right oil:

With the fondue ingredients, it is important that you use a tasteless oil. For example, rapeseed and sunflower oil are eligible. You can also use coconut oil, into which you dip the meat for the fondue.

So that your guests don’t have to wait too long before the fondue pot, we recommend that you heat the oil and fondue sauces on the stove before putting them on the table. 180 degrees are perfect for the oil fondue.

Tip:

If there is someone among your guests who does not want to eat too greasy or who may not tolerate it, then just prepare a meat fondue with broth. A fondue chinoise with side dishes tastes particularly delicious.

Select suitable vegetables:

To ensure that the vegetables do not fall off the fondue fork and burn in the fat, we advise you to rely on solid vegetables such as mushrooms, onions and peppers for the fondue side dishes. Of course, you have to cut them for your guests. In addition, you can also fry small potatoes pre-cooked in the oven in the oil fondue.

Tip:

If simple vegetables are far too boring, you can also coat it with dough or provide a tasty meat fondue dip.

Serve different side dishes:

Of course, a perfect meat fondue also includes side dishes. The most important are probably fondue sauces. Suitable are e.g. fruity-sharp chutney, remoulade, cocktail and garlic sauces, which are either made by yourself or bought as ready-made fondue sauces.

Fresh baguette bread with herb butter must of course not be missing from any fondue recipe, whether as a meat fondue or cheese fondue side dish. Fresh salads and pickled vegetables are also part of the meat fondue recipes on the table. After all, these are the delicious snacks for in between.

Safety instructions for an oil fondue

You always have to bear one thing in mind: with the fondue not only the fat, but also the pot and the fondue device gets very hot. Here, in case of carelessness, there is a risk of burns. So be sure to watch out for children at the table. Never leave the fat fondue on the table unattended.

It is also important that you only fill the fondue pot by half at a timeso that the hot fat cannot splash out. If, despite all caution, it catches fire, do not extinguish it with water. It is best to use fire blankets to suffocate the flame.
