vacuum your home properly 3

Even with the proper use of kitchen appliances or technical systems, it ultimately does not prevent dust or dirt and settling in many places. In the worst case, dirt causes the formation of mold, which is hazardous to health and must be removed – if you cannot prevent it beforehand. The main remedy is regular vacuuming, because this is the only way to adequately reach small corners and impassable areas of your home and keep them clean. In this guide we give you tips about what you should pay attention to when handling vacuum cleaners  and how to vacuum your home properly.

Vacuum your home properly: tips

Current, modern devices are real all-rounders in many respects, because with the appropriate attachments and suction technology you can achieve that a wide variety of functions can be used. Make sure in advance that the operating instructions explain all relevant functions and that they actually work.

To ensure a long suction power afterwards and to avoid damage to the device, please note the following:

It is best to sweep out beforehand: garbage or bulky things, such as bullets or the like, definitely do not belong to the vacuum. You should always treat the surface in advance so that there are no more barriers.

Do not vacuum up liquids: liquids cannot be absorbed, and they damage the system. Improper use, as in this case, regularly leads to the rejection of warranty claims.

Use the vacuum cleaner correctly

Of course, vacuuming is one thing that doesn’t take long to explain. Nevertheless, there are some things you should consider to vacuum your home properly. Here are some tips on how you can save time, nerves and electricity.

»Tip 1 – Roll out the cable completely:
When vacuuming, you should roll out the power cable completely to avoid overheating. This also saves you time because you do not always have to gradually extend the cable.

»Tip 2 – Never pull on the suction hose:
Do not pull your vacuum cleaner through the apartment on the suction hose. Otherwise, the lifespan of this is significantly reduced.

»Tip 3 – Saving electricity when vacuuming:
Incidentally, you can save electricity if you make the area to be cleaned accessible beforehand so that you can drive straight lines with your vacuum cleaner. The less frequent idling spares the suction power and the power consumption, and in combination with smooth tracks you also reduce the time required and protect the surface.

»Tip 4 – Use / make your own vacuum cleaner scent:
In the trade, so-called vacuum cleaner scent is offered in the form of sticks or pearls. So you can kill two birds with one stone. Your apartment will be cleaned by vacuuming and will also smell wonderful.

If you don’t want to spend money on this, you can of course make such a vacuum cleaner scent yourself. Simply put a little detergent, a packet of vanilla sugar, dried citrus peel, petals or scraps of toilet paper soaked in perfume into the vacuum cleaner bag.

»Tip 5 – Maintenance of vacuum cleaners:
Vacuum cleaners can lose their suction power over time, which can be annoying if you want to go fast. In order to always get a good suction result, you just have to clean your vacuum cleaner regularly in order to vacuum your home properly. This includes changing the vacuum cleaner bag as well as cleaning the suction tube and the vacuum cleaner brushes.

Find the right vacuum cleaner

Not every vacuum cleaner has the right power to handle all tasks. The engine power is given in watts, so this is often a strong selling point for dealers. But with vacuum cleaners, their effectiveness is measured in airwatts. According to current tests, devices that were in the vicinity of 1,200 watts (medium power) performed much better and more consistently than those with 1,600 watts or more. As with the car, the decisive factor here is the conversion into suction power – smaller devices, in the range up to 500 watts, often use appropriate technology, but are usually much more expensive.

To make the selection easier, you should test the suction process or suction power beforehand. To do this, take the palm of your hand and determine where the air is actually drawn in. Devices that work on the basis of a floor nozzle , which has a strong central indentation along with smaller lateral indentations, are particularly effective when vacuuming even the smallest things.
