At some point you just can’t look at gingerbread any more. If you eat too much of it, you’re over it at some point. Gingerbread is also called pepper cake, honey cake or spice cake. The oriental taste of gingerbread comes from spices such as anise, cinnamon and cloves. However, the taste is not only aromatic and spicy, but of course also Christmassy. That’s why many people can’t see gingerbread after the Christmas season. But if you don’t want to miss the taste after the Christmas season, you can use the leftover gingerbread in many other dishes.
Use gingerbread leftovers – 6 tips
- For example, you can use leftover gingerbread if you want to make a delicious sauce into beef. The hard gingerbreads serve as sauce binders. But make sure it’s not chocolate gingerbread or gingerbread with icing, it doesn’t necessarily taste good. A gingerbread in the roast sauce gives the whole thing an inimitable taste. Just give it a try, you’ll see that it tastes good!
- A gingerbread tomato sauce also tastes very tasty. This is particularly suitable for pasta. Simply boil a litre of water, add about three crushed gingerbread, salt, an onion, half a tube of tomato paste, some sugar and vinegar to the water. Cook until the gingerbread has almost dissolved. Then all you have to do is tip the sauce through a sieve or puree it. Thicken, done!
- You can also grind the leftover gingerbread and use it as a cake base or biscuit base. Alternatively, the ground gingerbread can also make a mole cake.
- Of course, you can also make a great dessert out of the leftover gingerbread. How about a delicious yoghurt dessert? Simply alternately layer some yoghurt, cherries and gingerbread crumbs in a glass. Let the whole thing pull a little and you have already conjured up a delicious dessert. You can also just mix some yoghurt with crushed gingerbread. This also tastes very delicious.
- You can also make a delicious gingerbread milkshake in a simple way. Simply crush a few gingerbread simmers in a stand mixer. Now gradually add more and more milk. Add as much milk to the blender until the drink gets the consistency you want. Tip the whole thing into a glass and add a scoop of ice cream to the drink. Simply delicious!
- How about a delicious gingerbread ice cream or gingerbread parfait? To do this, beat four egg yolks with 80 grams of sugar and a packet of vanilla sugar to a frothy mass. Now add the crushed gingerbread to the mass. Now beat 400 ml of cream. Then lift the whipped cream under the gingerbread mixture. You now need to freeze this mass for about 12 hours.
