Step 1: First, wash the orange peel well and slice it. You can cut the rest of the flesh into small cubes as you like and add it to your glass later for the fruity kick.

Step 2: Then put the white wine, apple juice, star anise, cloves and orange peel in a saucepan and bring the contents to the boil.

Step 3: Importantly, once the brew starts to boil, you immediately reduce the heat and let it simmer at a low level for about 10 minutes.

Step 4: Once the mulled wine is heated, remove it from the stove and taste it with honey or agave syrup as a healthy sugar alternative. Depending on the taste, you can also add small pieces of almonds and orange slices to your mulled wine. Now just spread the wine on the glasses and add cinnamon sticks – and your homemade hot drink is ready! Let it taste you!
