Yes, even hanging up a towel you can do something wrong. We show you what that is and how to hang a towel up properly.
How to hang a towel up properly
You probably know the typical hook strip for the door or the wall in the bathroom, right? Unfortunately, that’s not the best way to hang your towel. This is because a wet towel can bind to a hook and not unfold properly. This in turn leads to wrinkled towels and in the worst case even mold on the towel.
The best solution is regular towel rails with rods. Here the towels can develop and dry properly. Imagine this similar to the case with clothing: you can also hang wet clothes on the clothesline or on the clotheshorse and not on a hook. The clothes would not dry properly there.
Tips for longer freshness
- If you use towel rails with rods, take the first step in the right direction. Because by hanging on a pole, the air can circulate better and thus prevents a musty smell and wet spots.
- If the towel has a strange smell when it comes out of the laundry, it can be due to different things.
- On the one hand, limescale can be blamed in the washing machine, on the other hand, fabric softener often creates an excess of care products. It then deposits in the fibers and makes the towel no longer smell so fresh.
- To fix this, just mix some baking soda and vinegar. Then pour this mixture into the washing machine and let the towels spin as normal and without detergent.
- The baking powder makes the towels fluffy again and the vinegar ensures a deep cleaning of the fibers.
