Short or long? Fine or curly? There are many different hair structures and each one calls for a different beauty tool. A curly head has very different needs than smooth, fine hair and with the wrong brush, you can permanently damage the hair structure in the long run. How do you find the right hairbrush for every hair type?
Right hairbrush for every hair type: Curly hair
The most intensive care is curly hair. It has a rough hair texture and is therefore much more sensitive to brushing than straight hair. The best thing to do is use a coarse-toothed comb, gently untangling your hair and keeping your curls in shape while a brush would just fluff up.
Fine hair
If you have thin, fine hair, you often want more volume. This is best suited for a round brush. The best are the models with ceramic drum and holes, so the warm air when blow-drying can really reach every strand.
Dry, dull hair
You think your hair does not shine? You can change that! A brush with natural bristles, such as boar bristles, spreads the sebum from your scalp into your hair, giving it shine and smoothing naturally.
Long, straight hair
Long hair is time consuming. To save at least blow-dry time, there is the paddle brush. Thanks to their wide, square, straight surface, the hair dries much faster. The rounded bristles also massage the scalp, remove dead skin cells and make your hair shine.
Quality not quantity
No matter which brush or comb you finally decide on – please pay attention to a good quality. Invest rather a few euros more, because if the bristles, nylons or wood combs are badly processed, you damage long-term the cuticle of the hair.
Please do not forget that also brushes have to be cleaned. Everybody should know that hair is removed from the brush after combing. But once a month you should also clean your brush with a gentle shampoo and let it dry upside down. The sebum and the dead skin cells are removed and not further distributed in the hair.
