Best ways to clean and polish copper
Tip 1: Buttermilk and salt
If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on expensive special cleaners, you should make them yourself. Take buttermilk and add the same part of the salt. You must now stir this mixture well. This allows you to then start rubbing the copper.
You must then leave the mixture on for a few minutes and wipe with a dry cloth and polish. You will see that this homemade and above all cost-effective mixture has the same effect as an expensive polishing agent from specialist retailers.
Tip 2: Vinegar and salt
You can also make a special cleaner from water, vinegar and salt. Mix 10 ml of vinegar concentrate with 600 ml of water. Now add a tablespoon of salt to this mixture. Now take a cloth and rub the copper object with this solution. If small objects such as copper coins have gone dark, you can also soak them in the mixture for about half an hour.
Tip 3: Wood ash
You can also clean copper pieces, such as pans and pots, with wood ash. Simply place the ashes on a soft cloth and rub the objects with it. After that you will have them shining again.
Tip 4: Lemon and salt
Here’s another method: Cut through a lemon in the middle. Now sprinkle some salt on the cutting surface of a lemon half. Then rub them along the surface of the copper object. In most cases, however, the juice of a lemon is enough to make the copper shine again.
Tip 5: Toothpaste
Apply a thick layer of toothpaste to the copper objects. If it is dried, you can wash it off again. Then you only have to rub the items dry. In this way you can also clean silver.
Tip 6: Sauerkraut juice
You can even clean copper with sauerkraut juice. After the juice has been able to act for a long time, wash it off and then rub and polish the copper material well dry.
As you can see, you don’t have to go straight to the nearest store and buy expensive special cleaners to clean and polish copper. Some simple ingredients from the kitchen are enough to do a great job.
