Shaving water can be a very expensive business if you reach for the designer waters. But even normal aftershave from the shop has its pitfalls, because it can burn the skin and leave a thick red rash. Simpler, cheaper and much safer are small mixtures, which you can easily produce yourself with some ingredients from the pharmacy. Just try the following tips and make your own shaving water.

Make your own DIY aftershave – 3 tips

Tip 1 – Shaving water for sensitive skin
After shaving, the skin is known to always be irritated. However, there are also many men who naturally have sensitive or impure skin. If you are one of them, you should mix the following ingredients together to make your own DIY aftershave:

  • 100 millilitres of elderflower water
  • 100 millilitres marigold tincture
  • 50 millilitres of chamomile flower water
  • 15 drops of essential oil of your choice

Put all the ingredients in a small vial and shake them well. Your DIY aftershave is ready for sensitive skin.

Tip 2 – Aftershave without alcohol
Alcohol removes a lot of moisture from the skin, which is why a shaving water with alcohol is not really good for the skin. Here is a recipe for how you can easily make your own DIY aftershave without alcohol:

  • 15 millilitres of cosmetic base water
  • 30 drops of meristem extract
  • 80 milliliters of aloe vera gel
  • 1 tablespoon panthenol
  • 1 teaspoon allantoine
  • 5 drops of perfume

Cosmetic base water, aloe vera gel, panthenol, etc. can be purchased in the pharmacy. Mix all the ingredients together again and then put your homemade shaving water in a small vial.

Tip 3 – Shaving cream
You can also make a shaving cream that is good for the easily irritated skin after shaving. Simply add a little shower gel or liquid soap and mix with a decent dose of baby powder until the whole thing has the consistency of a paste. Now massage lightly on the freshly shaved face with both hands and circular movements then rinse off. This not only prevents inflammation and smells very pleasant, the skin is also not irritated unnecessarily. On the contrary, your skin becomes as delicate as that of a baby.

Especially men who have to deal with skin impurities or are prone to pimples should try this homemade shaving cream.
