1. Teenagers and children love ketchup

Step 1: Prepare ingredients
If you want to make this homemade tomato ketchup recipe yourself, you only need 500 grams of tomatoes, half an onion, vegetable broth, some vinegar and sugar, as well as spices like pepper and salt and who likes some garlic.
Step 2: Skin tomatoes
First, blanch the tomatoes so that the skin can be removed better. If you have removed the skin, then you need to cut the tomatoes in small pieces.
Step 3: Puree tomato pieces
Then you have to puree the tomato pieces and let the puree cook for a few minutes.
Step 4: Bring all ingredients to the boil
Now you have to add the pureed onion and garlic clove, some vegetable broth, 20 millilitres of vinegar, a spoonful of sugar, pepper and salt. Now let the whole thing simmer on a small flame until the mixture has reached the desired consistency. Stir frequently so that it does not burn.
Step 5: Season to taste
Now it’s about refining the ketchup. Basically, you can refine both homemade and purchased ketchup with some spices. If you like it a little sharper, you can also add a bit of chilli or cayenne pepper to the ketchup. If you like to eat Mediterranean ketchup, you should use some thyme, basil and rosemary, for example.
Step 6: Fill containers
If you have tasted your ketchup, then fill it in glasses and leave to cool. Empty jam jars are very suitable for this.
