Even if chips do not have a healthy reputation, they are among the most popular snacks. Especially in the evening, when an exciting film is on TV or when you are sitting with friends in a relaxed atmosphere, many people like to reach into the chip bag and enjoy the crispy potato slices. But what if they have lost every crunch and can simply be described as lax? Don’t worry, you don’t have to throw away chips in this case. There are actually a number of ways to give the snack a renaissance and make stale chips crisp again.
Trick to make stale chips crisp again
The following household tip is as simple as it is ingenious. If chips are no longer crispy it is because they have absorbed too much moisture from their surroundings. Conversely, this naturally means that this moisture must be extracted to make stale chips crisp again.
Chips as well as pretzel sticks, crackers and other snacks from the “nibble” category can easily be made crispy again. They just have to be put in the warm oven for a short moment.
Here the excess moisture is only extracted from the snacks. So you won’t be baked a second time or anything like that. It is therefore sufficient to heat the furnace only slightly. All temperatures above 75 degrees are simply a waste of energy and not necessary.
The same trick to make stale chips crisp again also works in the microwave or in a mini oven. It is only important that the device in question generates enough heat to allow the excess moisture in the chips to evaporate.

❍ Zip bags:
Plastic bags with zip closures are not only indispensable when traveling by plane, they also help to save chips from becoming lashed. Simply bag it, seal it airtight and enjoy in small portions.
❍ Clips and brackets:
Not quite as successful as cans and zip bags, but at least better than nothing are special clips or (clothes) clips that can be used to close a chip bag. This technique is particularly useful if you know that you will eat the chips the next day or evening.

Especially people who live alone or with a chip refuser know the problem of the loose chips. A standard bag of chips is simply too big to eat in one ride. The health aspect also prevents many from emptying the bag immediately.

Simply make potato chips yourself
Conventional chips from the supermarket or discounter not only come in inappropriate quantities, they are also made with the help of many unnatural flavor enhancers. Homemade chips, on the other hand, have a natural taste and can also be portioned so that there is nothing left afterwards that can become lax. If you simply want to make potato chips yourself, you need:
- rapeseed oil
- Spices, such as pepper, salt, paprika powder and french spice

❍ Make chips yourself
- Peel the potato and cut it into thin slices either with a peeler or a kitchen grater
- Put in a bowl and pour water over it
- stir and wait for the starch to come out of the potatoes
- Drain water
- Preheat the oven to 160 degrees circulating air
- Put the oil and spices in the bowl
- Mix everything well so that oil and spices stick to all potato slices

- Bake crisps in the oven for about 15 to 20 minutes
