In order to be happy, satisfied and relaxed, we have to strive for a balanced work-life balance. After all, we work to live and not the other way around. We should make more of our free time than just throwing ourselves in front of the television in the evening, exhausted.

So here are 10 tips on how to make your job less stressful and make life a little more beautiful

1. To-do lists

Eight hours of work can be damn long if there is pure chaos and you are just stressed out.

Tip: Make a to-do list in the morning or the evening before, which lists all the tasks that need to be done. Sort them by importance and check off what is done. With this structure you will not forget anything and it will be easier for you to think clearly. Also try to be distracted as little as possible from emails, cell phones, etc.

2. Set priorities

The list of tasks is very long and something new is constantly being added. This is simply not possible!

Tip: set priorities. If you are unsure, ask your manager for a clear statement. He or she can best tell you which tasks are most important and should be done today if possible and which can wait. That takes away pressure and stress.

3. Work distribution

Sometimes lists and priorities cannot prevent work from growing over your head. Only one thing helps here: redistribution!

Tip: Asking colleagues for help or asking the boss to distribute the work to others is not a crime. If you notice that it is getting too much, do not hesitate and split the work. This is the only way you can concentrate on the essentials and avoid mistakes.

4. Take breaks

Regardless of whether the day is calm or rather stressful, breaks should always be observed. This includes the longer lunch break, but also short breaks in between.

Tip: To clear your head, you should go outside in the lunch break and exercise a bit. The spatial distance from the desk works wonders.

5. No “homework”

You sit on the sofa at home, but still think about work all the time. Do you know that? It shouldn’t be like that. Even if it is sometimes difficult: As soon as the office door closes behind you, you should banish all thoughts about work to the far corner of your brain.

Tip: check your thoughts and think of something beautiful. Thoughts that make you feel good are the best ways to switch off after work. If thoughts of work nevertheless come to the fore, note them down briefly and then direct the thoughts back to something else.

6. Prepare housework

Everything is tidied up and cleaned, everything is dirty again and you have to take care of the food. Housework is a never-ending vicious cycle that we could address every day. But we shouldn’t, because that affects the quality of our free time.

Tip: Here a precise plan helps. Sit down at the beginning of the week and consider what needs to be done. You spread the tasks over the entire week. Try to bundle as much as possible. If you write a shopping list and plan meals, you don’t have to go to the supermarket every day, but can only go twice a week and get everything. You can also cook in one evening for two days , so that every other evening is cook-free.

7. Split duties

In addition to work, there is always a bunch of private duties that need to be done. Doctors’ appointments, e-mails, concluding or terminating contracts, writing tax returns – that is not fun for anyone, but these duties do not dissolve by postponing them.

Tip: These things should also be planned. Decide for yourself whether you take one evening off to do everything at once or whether you prefer to do a small part step-by-step and have the rest of the evening off.

8. Schedule appointments

After a long day at work, many are often too tired to meet friends for a while. Understandable, but especially the informal get-together contributes to the quality of life and ensures a good mood. You should attend such evenings regularly.

Tip: Schedule short meetings when you don’t have much time. A coffee, wine or cocktail after work doesn’t have to go to the dolls, nor does a quick dinner. Nobody is angry when it ends at nine or ten o’clock and everyone goes home.

9. Plan your time-out

Take a long bath, read a book, or visit the beautician: all of these are things that we would like to do for ourselves, but for which there is never any time.

Tip: Such breaks from everyday life are extremely important for well-being. Make an appointment and schedule the time if you don’t get around to it otherwise.

10. Do not schedule weekends

Finally weekend – two days off! This is great, but by no means a reason to fill these two days with appointments, appointments and commitments to the point of bursting. Make sure that you keep appointments and appointments during the week so that the end of the week helps you relax.
